New Delhi, Sep 08 (UNI): President Droupadi Murmu graced the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations of the Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC) India in New Delhi, emphasizing the pivotal role of trade, innovation, and MSMEs in strengthening India’s economy.

Addressing the gathering, the President recalled that in ancient times, India led the world not only in spirituality but also in trade. She urged citizens and industry stakeholders to take a collective resolution to make India once again a leading centre of knowledge and trade. She emphasized that EEPC, as a crucial stakeholder in the economic sector, must pursue this resolution with determination and innovation.

Highlighting the contribution of MSMEs, the President said, “MSMEs play a significant and commendable role in our economy. I am confident that EEPC will provide new direction and strength to MSME exports, aligning them with changing global scenarios.”

She further underscored the importance of India’s talent and energy, stating that by providing an enabling ecosystem, the country can emerge as a leading innovation economy. She noted that a key dimension of the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative is to build a resilient economy that can withstand international economic fluctuations with minimal impact.

President Murmu also applauded EEPC for India’s engineering export growth over the past decade, which rose from USD 70 billion to over USD 115 billion, despite challenges in international trade. She emphasized EEPC’s role as a bridge between Indian producers and global markets, encouraging the council to continuously expand India’s footprint in the Global Value Chain.

Recognizing the evolving world trade and international economic order, she urged EEPC to leverage India’s exceptional capabilities to turn global trade challenges into opportunities. Over the last seven decades, India’s engineering export destinations have changed significantly, and EEPC’s continued efforts are vital in making India’s economy stronger with the spirit of ‘Nation First’.

The Platinum Jubilee celebrations reinforced the critical role of MSMEs and engineering exporters in shaping India’s global trade presence and innovation-led growth.
