Government Reviews ₹36,296 Crore Infrastructure Projects in Gujarat and Rajasthan

New Delhi: A high-level review meeting was held on July 3, 2025, to fast-track the implementation of 18 critical infrastructure projects worth over ₹36,296 crore in Gujarat and Rajasthan. Conducted under the Project Monitoring Group (PMG) of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), the meeting aimed to address 22 key issues hampering progress. A major focus of the review was the ₹14,147 crore Transmission System Strengthening Scheme, which targets the evacuation of solar power from high-potential zones in Jaisalmer, Bikaner, and Barmer (Rajasthan) and Surendranagar, Patan, and Kutch (Gujarat). The scheme will support seamless integration of renewable energy into the national grid by developing high-capacity substations and transmission lines. The meeting also addressed implementation hurdles such as land acquisition and right-of-way (RoW) challenges to expedite project delivery.

In addition to power infrastructure, the meeting reviewed Reliance Jio’s 5G and 4G expansion project, declared a project of national importance. The initiative aims to bring high-speed mobile connectivity to uncovered, remote, and strategic areas, while enhancing existing digital infrastructure. Discussions were held with state governments to resolve pending forest clearance issues and other local impediments.

Shri Praveen Mahto, Principal Economic Adviser, DPIIT, chaired the meeting and reiterated the government’s commitment to proactive governance and effective coordination. He encouraged project proponents to actively use the PMG portal (https://pmg.dpiit.gov.in/) for resolving pending approvals and accelerating timelines. Mahto also stressed the importance of synergy between central ministries, state governments, and private stakeholders for timely implementation of projects that have far-reaching economic and social impact.

The session saw active participation from senior officials of central and state governments, as well as representatives from key private-sector entities. These projects, once completed, are expected to significantly improve renewable energy integration, digital connectivity, and regional development, while also boosting employment and supporting industrial growth and MSME ecosystems in both Gujarat and Rajasthan.
