Tamil Nadu Budget 2025: ₹1,918 Crore Allocated to Boost MSME Growth

Chennai: In a major push for the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector, Tamil Nadu Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu announced an allocation of ₹1,918 crore in the state’s 2025-26 budget, aimed at strengthening industrial growth, job creation, and innovation.

Nine New Industrial Estates
The Tamil Nadu Small Industries Development Corporation (SIDCO) will develop nine new industrial estates across the state with an investment of ₹366 crore, expected to generate around 17,500 jobs.

₹2.5 Lakh Crore MSME Credit Plan
Banks in Tamil Nadu are set to disburse ₹2.5 lakh crore in loans to 10 lakh MSMEs in 2025-26, reinforcing financial support for the sector, which already comprises over 32 lakh registered enterprises.

Startup & Innovation Support
The government continues to strengthen the startup ecosystem with a ₹20 crore Tamil Nadu Startup Seed Fund under TANSIM (Tamil Nadu Startup and Innovation Mission). Additionally, a ₹10 crore ‘Space Tech Fund’ has been announced to encourage space technology startups. Chennai will soon house a satellite testing and incubation facility to support entrepreneurs in the sector.

Manufacturing & EV Growth
With Tamil Nadu emerging as a leader in electronics and electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing, the state’s electronics exports are projected to surpass $12 billion in 2024-25.

These initiatives highlight the state’s commitment to MSME development, entrepreneurship, and innovation, fostering a business-friendly ecosystem for sustainable economic growth.
