Cabinet Approves Integrated Energy, MSME, and Food Processing Policies

In a bid to fast-track Andhra Pradesh’s development, the state Cabinet, led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, approved several key policies on Wednesday aimed at restoring the state’s brand image and driving economic growth. These policies focus on sectors such as MSMEs, clean energy, and food processing, with a vision to create 20 lakh jobs and attract investments of Rs 30 lakh crore over the next five years.

Chief Minister Naidu presented the details through a power-point presentation, emphasizing the importance of transforming Rayalaseema into a “fruit basket,” promoting entrepreneurship in every family, and turning Srikakulam into an industrial hub. The policies also aim to adopt a market-driven model based on demand-supply dynamics to enhance the state’s economic performance.

Andhra Pradesh aims to generate 78.50 GW of solar energy and 35 GW of wind energy under the Integrated Clean Energy Policy (ICEP). The state government is targeting investments of Rs 10 lakh crore in clean energy, expected to create employment for 7.5 lakh people. Plans to establish a Green Energy University and complete the clean energy project within five years are also on the agenda. Incentives will be provided for setting up wind and solar manufacturing projects, along with benefits such as SGST reimbursement and land acquisition support.

The government has adopted a “One-Family One-Entrepreneur” initiative to foster entrepreneurship within the MSME sector. Special focus will be given to food processing, aiming to establish Rayalaseema as a prominent region for fruit cultivation. The Srikakulam Industrial Hub is planned to accelerate industrial development in the region.

The government targets Rs 30 lakh crore in investments by 2029, with an expected revenue of Rs 88,000 crore over the policy period (2025-2030). Employment generation is projected to reach 20 lakh, with significant contributions from sectors like automobiles, pharmaceuticals, textiles, semiconductors, and battery vehicles. A Cabinet subcommittee will be formed to oversee the creation of 11.20 lakh jobs in these focus sectors.

Plug and Play industrial projects and new electronics projects will receive Rs 1,000 crore in funding. The AP Anti-Narcotics Task Force will be established in Amaravati, with dedicated narcotics police teams in 26 districts, supported by five fast-track courts to expedite cases related to narcotics.
