Udyam Sakhi Portal Empowers Women Entrepreneurs to Build Self-Reliant Businesses

In a significant step towards fostering women-led development, the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) announced that a total of 4,535 women entrepreneurs have registered on the Udyam Sakhi Portal. The portal, launched in 2018 with an investment of ₹43.52 lakh, aims to provide women with the necessary tools, guidance, and resources to start, build, and expand their businesses, ultimately enabling them to become self-reliant.

The Udyam Sakhi Portal (www.udyamsakhi.com) acts as a single-window platform offering comprehensive information about financial schemes, policies, and programmes under the Ministry of MSME and other central ministries. Women entrepreneurs can access details about flagship initiatives such as the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE), Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana, and the Trade Receivables Discounting System (TReDS). These schemes collectively facilitate easier access to credit, reduce collateral burdens, and open new avenues of growth.

Beyond financial support, the portal also guides women through the process of preparing business plans, connecting with nodal offices, and accessing support institutions across different states. Furthermore, it provides updates on exhibitions, trade fairs, and international events organized by the Ministry of MSME, enabling women entrepreneurs to showcase their products and explore global markets.

Minister of State for MSME, Sushri Shobha Karandlaje, highlighted in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha that the portal has been instrumental in bridging the knowledge gap for women seeking to enter the entrepreneurial ecosystem. By consolidating schemes, mentorship resources, and networking opportunities, Udyam Sakhi is nurturing a more inclusive and dynamic MSME sector.

The portal reflects the government’s broader commitment to women-led development, aligning with national priorities of “Nari Shakti” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat.” With women increasingly stepping into roles as business leaders and job creators, initiatives like Udyam Sakhi are vital in ensuring equal access to resources and opportunities.

As India strives to achieve inclusive economic growth, empowering women entrepreneurs through digital platforms is proving to be a transformative step. The growing registrations on the Udyam Sakhi Portal stand as a testament to the rising confidence of women in pursuing entrepreneurship, paving the way for greater participation in the nation’s economic journey
